PMRC conferences dealing with all aspects of perpendicular magnetic recording have been held every two or three years since 1989. All colleagues interested in recent and future developments in perpendicular magnetic recording and high-density storage technologies are invited to attend PMRC 2010 and to submit contributions to the technical sessions. SCOPE Perpendicular magnetic recording was introduced into commercial hard disk drives in 2005.Emerging applications of HDDs are demanding rapid increases in storage capacity and areal density. The 9th Perpendicular Magnetic Recording Conference is aimed at discussing a broad range of topics related to the extension of ultrahigh areal density perpendicular magnetic recording and all related high-density storage technologies. This PMRC 2010 conference is sponsored by the Japan Society of the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Committee 144. PRESENTATION AND PUBLICATION The Program Committee will prepare and distribute the call for papers, which will be uploaded to the web-site soon. Selected papers from PMRC 2010 will be published in the conference proceedings.
